Why I chose UCLA: The pain fellowship at UCLA offers the clinical and procedural volume of private practice combined with the educational resources of a renowned academic institution. I know I'm going to be well prepared for any job at the end of this fellowship. The pleasant weather and amazing food scene in LA are added benefits of coming to UCLA for fellowship.

Dr. Estela Chen Gonzalez is thrilled to be at UCLA for her fellowship and is most looking forward to becoming proficient at multimodal pain management and interventional pain procedures. Her hobbies include running, yoga, hiking, and true crime anything (shows and podcasts). During her free time, Dr. Chen Gonzalez enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, tending to her indoor plants, exploring the LA food scene, and playing with her two rescue cats, Toto and Remi.

Why I chose UCLA: I chose UCLA for the breadth of complex pain cases, the highly skilled and supportive faculty, and the beautiful Southern California weather.

Dr. Jason Cohen is a native Angelino and is excited to return to sunny Southern California for his fellowship training. He looks forward to bonding with his co-fellows and learning the interventional and non-interventional skills required to care for pain medicine patients. Outside of work, Dr. Cohen enjoys hanging out with his two young children and staying active through running and playing basketball and soccer.

Dr. Madelyn Craig is excited to bask in sunny California weather and visit all the great restaurants around Los Angeles. She and her husband enjoy traveling and have a bucket list of all the places in California they want to explore this year. Dr. Craig’s hobbies include running, biking, fishing, gardening, and cooking. During her free time, she also enjoys learning new skills though DIY projects.

Why I chose UCLA: The longevity and retention in the leadership at UCLA is outstanding. Beyond its stellar reputation, UCLA pain fellowship is well-rounded with emphasis on both interventions and patient connections.  

Dr. Alexa Lean has a strong interest in cancer pain and optimizing interventional techniques. She is a certified yoga instructor and has interests in dance, graphic design, and playing the ukulele. When Dr. Lean is not at work, she can be found at the dog park, out at brunch, or a muscle festival. During fellowship, she is looking forward to forming new relationships, connections, and entering a new community.

Why I chose UCLA: I chose UCLA because of its excellent, well-balanced training program, with exposure to both high volume of procedural and clinical experiences, run by amazing clinicians who are leaders in the field. Also, UCLA's location in sunny California near family and friends made the choice obvious!

Dr. Clara Vu was born in Vietnam but grew up in Westminster, CA. She completed her residency at UCLA and is excited to stay on for fellowship and learn as much as she can in a year. Dr. Vu’s interests include playing the piano, baking, and seeing new places. She is excited to get married later this year and travel more.

Why I chose UCLA: I chose UCLA because it offers exceptional medical training in one of the most beautiful places, surrounded by delicious food from everywhere in the world.  

Dr. Logan Woodhouse is looking forward to remaining at UCLA and in Southern California for fellowship. Dr. Woodhouse has a longstanding enjoyment for reading, and started a used book collection early in residency that has developed into a considerable home library. His hobbies also include martial arts, cooking with his significant other, and riding his bike down the Santa Monica beach trails.
