UCLA OB/GYN Global Health Fellowship 

The UCLA OB/GYN Global Health Fellowship is a one-year comprehensive training program designed to prepare obstetrician-gynecologists for careers that integrate global health, clinical practice, education, and scholarship. Fellows maintain and advance their clinical and surgical skills through continued practice in hospital-based obstetrics and gynecology while developing the knowledge and experience needed to work effectively across diverse healthcare systems. 

The fellowship includes nine months of clinical practice at UCLA and three months at an international partner institution. This combination provides exposure to obstetric and gynecologic care in both academic and international hospital settings, with an emphasis on clinical excellence, health systems, ethical global partnerships, and context-responsive care. 

A longitudinal global health curriculum complements the clinical experience. Interactive sessions address the foundations of global health, health equity, healthcare delivery, program development, research, and implementation. Fellows also participate in pre-departure preparation and skill-building workshops tailored to their specialty interests and international projects. 

Fellows contribute to global health teaching initiatives and journal clubs for trainees at UCLA and partner institutions. Each fellow is expected to complete a mentored scholarly project and attend a relevant professional society meeting during the fellowship year.

Eligibility 

The 2027–2028 application cycle will open in July 2026 for candidates who have completed or will complete a U.S. residency program in OB/GYN by June 30, 2027.
