Pediatric Hospital Medicine
The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital provides comprehensive inpatient pediatric care at both Westwood and Santa Monica campuses.
Our mission is to deliver excellence in pediatric hospital medicine through compassionate and coordinated patient family centered care; we strive to achieve this through evidence based medicine, high quality education, and research.
As hospitalists, we specialize in providing inpatient care to children and adolescents with a wide array of medical conditions, including patients with complex health care needs. Our pediatric hospitalists are in-house 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at both campuses in order to provide high level care to all admitted patients, newborn nursery coverage, and pediatric consultative services to departments including surgical subspecialties, emergency medicine, and psychiatry, to name a few.
Our division has been recognized as a leader in patient and family centered care. We take a multi-disciplinary approach to the management of complicated inpatient conditions, working closely with families as well as other pediatric specialists, nurses, child life specialists, and social workers.
In addition to providing excellent patient care, the division is highly involved in resident and medical student education, clinical research, and quality improvement projects designed to optimize resource utilization and improve patient experience and outcomes.
