Karina Kanamori Mendes Research Lab

Karina Kanamori Mendes

Our mission

The Kanamori lab is a translational laboratory that investigates NAD metabolism in age-related cardiovascular and vascular diseases and the potential of NAD-boosting therapies. The Laboratory focuses on understanding the upstream and downstream signaling in arterio-venous fistula creation to define the mechanism by which NAD influences fistula maturation process and the kidney-heart axis in short- and long-term outcomes.

 Our current research team's focus

  • NAD metabolism
  • Age-related aortic and peripheral vascular disease
  • Potential NAD-boosting therapies
  • AVF maturation

Dr. Kanamori’s Collaborations

  • Clinical trials

UCLA Vascular Biorepository

Research participants needed to join the effort to improve understanding of vascular diseases and develop new therapeutics. More information will be available soon.
