Maie St. John, MD, PhD
Maie St. John's focus is to build programs that can offer every patient with any head and neck condition, precise, state of the art diagnosis and treatment in an environment that is compassionate, and patient centered. She is committed to listening and engaging every patient in their care. In addition, she strives to assure open communication between her team, the patient, the patient’s family and all the patient’s physicians. She wants every patient to receive innovative care but just as important she wants to ensure that our physicians, nurses and staff to treat every patient like family, with compassion and kindness. A highly renowned surgeon, scientist and educator, Dr. St. John is Professor and Chair of Department of Head and Neck Surgery. She also holds the Thomas C. Calcaterra, M.D., Chair in Head and Neck Surgery and is Co-Director of the UCLA Head and Neck Cancer Program. Dr. St. John's laboratory studies the mechanisms of tumor progression and metastasis in head and neck cancer and seeks to identify and study novel genes and pathways for future targeted therapies, while actively incorporating the results of their laboratory-based research into the development of novel therapeutics. Dinesh Chhetri, MD
Dr. Dinesh Chhetri is Laryngologist (Voice, Swallowing, and Airway Specialist), and Professor of Head and Neck Surgery, at the University of California, Los Angeles, Department of Head and Neck Surgery. He obtained his Medical Degree from UCLA School of Medicine, where he graduated with distinction for his thesis on vocal fold paralysis and laryngeal reinnervation. He also completed residency training and fellowship in Laryngology at UCLA. Dr. Chhetri is known nationally and internationally for his expertise on laryngeal physiology and has authored over 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications related to laryngeal disorders. He is also an authority on swallowing disorders, and has published a seminal book "Dysphagia Evaluation and Management in Otolaryngology" for clinicians specializing in swallowing problems. Dr. Chhetri specializes in all aspects of Laryngology (voice disorders, growths of the larynx, vocal paralysis, laryngeal and tracheal stenosis, Zenker’s diverticulum, etc.). Preethi Srikanthan, MD
Preethi Srikanthan, MD
Preethi Srikanthan, MD, MS is an attending Endocrinologist and Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She is the clinical director of research programs at the UCLA Research center at Alhambra where she oversees several large multicenter epidemiologic studies. Dr. Srikanthan is an active investigator with Multiethnic Study of Atherosclerosis, a multicenter study evaluating modern risk factors impacting the progression from subclinical to clinical atherosclerosis. Further, her important work as a part of the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcome Study (DPPOS), has proven that even 10 years after a period of active lifestyle change or metformin use, these treatments can still delay type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular risk factors by as much as 34% in a group of obese Americans, at risk for diabetes. Further, Dr. Srikanthan's epidemiologic studies evaluating the metabolic and cardiovascular import of changes in body composition (specifically increased muscle mass) have lead to multiple highly cited manuscripts which have had significant public health impact.
