Dr. Paiji completed his undergraduate training with a public policy major at Stanford University. He attended University of California Irvine, School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received the Gustave D. Suffin Award for Outstanding Graduating Student in internal medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital followed by gastroenterology fellowship training at UCLA.
Dr. Paiji’s academic interests include investigating emerging technologies in endoscopy for early diagnosis of gastrointestinal malignancies and treatment of malignant and benign pancreatobiliary disorders. His research has focused on cholangioscopy-guided biopsies for indeterminate biliary strictures, endoscopic ultrasound for identifying advanced-grade pancreatic cysts and lumen apposing metal stents for management of pancreatic fluid collections. He is also interested in education and enjoys helping fellows improve their endoscopic skills.
Dr. Paiji is board certified in internal medicine and board eligible in gastroenterology. He is an active member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Gastroenterology and American Gastroenterological Association.
