An endoscopic browlift or upper facelift is performed to create a smoother, more youthful appearance by reducing wrinkles in the eyebrow region and next to the eyes. The surgeon creates three to five small incisions behind the hairline. The tissues of the brow and scalp are elevated through these incisions. Using sutures and/or clips, the brows are carefully shaped and repositioned to rejuvenate the upper eyelids and reduce wrinkling in the brow and lower forehead, as well as next to the eyes (crow's feet). Endoscopic browlift is now the technological standard for rejuvenation of the upper third of the face. It allows the brow to be elevated in a natural fashion without disfiguring incisions.
For approximately ten days following surgery there is some swelling and bruising in the forehead, cheek and eye region. Patients are likely to feel some discomfort following surgery and numbness and itching during the healing process. Suture and/or clip removal occurs seven to ten days later. Most patients are 80% recovered in two weeks, however it is recommended that they avoid strenuous activity for a slightly longer period. This surgery is not medically necessary and is not covered by insurance.
