David Bailey's background spans more than 25 years in nursing management, including leadership positions in critical care, cardiovascular and cardiac rehab nursing, and pulmonary and rehabilitation medicine at hospitals in Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina before moving to California to join UCLA Health.

David has published several articles, and his research revolves around authentic leadership practices in executive-level nursing. He has also presented at ALSN’s international conference on various topics, conducted webinars, and participated in panel discussions, the most recent being for Becker’s Healthcare.

David Bailey's professional affiliations include the Association for Leadership Science in Nursing (ALSN) where he is actively engaged at the national and international level on several initiatives; he currently serves as President-Elect for this organization. He also holds membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives where he has earned the distinction of being a Fellow (FACHE). He is also a member of the American Nurses Association and is certified as a Nurse Executive through this organization. He also holds memberships in the American Organization of Nurse Leaders and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
