What is the UCLA Mindful app?

The UCLA Mindful app offers free, evidence-based mindfulness practices and resources developed by UCLA Mindful, the mindfulness education center at UCLA Health. It is designed to support your well-being, reduce stress, and cultivate resilience.

Is the app really free?

Yes! The UCLA Mindful app meditations are completely free to download and use, with no hidden fees or subscriptions

Under the Upcoming Classes & Events tab, programs may be listed that have an additional fee- please follow the link of the event for more details.

What types of mindfulness practices are included?

The app features guided meditations, breathing exercises, body scans, and mindful movement practices suitable for all levels—from beginners to experienced practitioners.

Can I use the app anytime and anywhere?

Absolutely! The app is designed for flexible use, allowing you to practice mindfulness at your own pace, whenever and wherever it fits your schedule. You can play, pause, and forward through any meditation. Your progress is saved automatically so you can pick up right where you left off from the Listen tab. 

Can I download the meditations?

You can tap Download from the actions menu on any meditation to listen to it offline. You can see how many and how much space they use up from You Downloads on the Favorites screen. 

Can I share the meditations?

You can tap Share from the actions menu on any meditation to share it with friends. They can start listening from your shared link once they have the app installed. 

Do I need prior mindfulness experience to use the app?

No prior experience is needed. The app offers practices suitable for beginners as well as more advanced users.

How often is new content added?

We regularly update the app with new guided practices, courses, and resources to support your mindfulness journey.

Why aren't the newest meditations showing?

Content updates automatically at regular intervals. If you ever want the latest right away, just pull down any page to force a refresh. 

Is my personal information safe?

Yes. We respect your privacy and do not share your personal information. Please review our Privacy Policy for more details.

Can I use the app as part of a UCLA Mindful class or program?

Yes! Many of our classes and programs incorporate practices from the app to support your learning and daily mindfulness practice.
