The Emergency Radiology subspecialty provides constant and immediate consultation by interpreting all studies performed in the Emergency Medicine Center (EMC). The EMC is a Level 1 Trauma Center that sees over 700 major trauma cases per year. Emergency Radiology is in operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year performing approximately 18,000 procedures annually. These studies range from minor injuries and illnesses to the most severe life-threatening afflictions, e.g., motor vehicle accidents, falls, gunshot wounds, etc.
Emergency Radiology is staffed by one permanent faculty member, one first-year resident, one technologist, and one assistant on weekdays; a radiology resident and a faculty member from General Diagnostic Radiology takes call nights and weekends with one technologist and a clerk.
