The Sound Body Sound Mind Fitness Curriculum was developed with three goals in mind:
Each goal helps students develop a knowledge base they can carry forward into their adult years and encourages students to remain active long-term. Our fitness curriculum is a unique combination of the best elements of fitness-based physical education programs, team sports, and research-based youth development strategies. Through a series of 30 lessons that provide a structured yet flexible learning environment, students develop confidence and competence in an enjoyable setting that focuses on personal improvement and mastery of physical tasks.
The Sound Body Sound Mind Nutrition Curriculum was developed by UCLA Health Sports Performance powered by EXOS. It contains lessons with corresponding activities and tips for teachers to implement during their physical education classes. Lessons include the impacts of nutrition, nutrients, hydration, making smart choices, planning for long-term health, and more.
