Endowed Chair to Support Research in Congenital Birth Defects

Krakow

Through the philanthropy of Beth and Joshua Friedman, long time UCLA donors and volunteers, the research of Dr. Deborah Krakow now has a new source of support.  Dr. Krakow, Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been named to the newly established Joshua S. and Beth C. Friedman Chair for Women’s Genetic Research, funded by a generous gift from the Friedmans.   With their gift the Friedmans also endowed the Joshua S. and Beth C. Friedman Award for Reproductive Sciences, a gift that will provide annual faculty awards to advance research in women’s health.

“Dr. Krakow is a foremost authority on the role of genetics in understanding a wide range of health issues including congenital birth defects, mental health, cancer and aging.  This gift will advance her work and help us better understand the role of genetics in disease risk and health outcomes” said Laura Baybridge, Executive Chief Administrative Officer of OBGYN.
