The curriculum sub-committee continuously helps to create innovative change in our curriculum with a longitudinal inpatient lecture series and our outpatient didactics that seamlessly integrate into our systems-based lectures. Upcoming activities:
Our medical student liaisons work tirelessly to support, collaborate, and elevate the initiatives of our medical student colleagues. We work closely with the Latino Medical Student Association, Student National Medical Association, Pride Alliance, and UCLA’s First Generation network. Throughout the year the committee helps to host resident led roundtables for medical students, as well as host office hours, and community building events.
Each year the UCLA Internal Medicine Chief Residents partner with Alliance Piera Barbaglia Shaheen Health Services Academy High School, a free public charter school in South Los Angeles dedicated to preparing students for college with a health career focus.
Many of our Health Services Academy students would be under-represented in health care, and the partnership with UCLA Internal Medicine’s Physician Shadowing program exposes these bright students to a number of health care fields and provides them with skills to reach their goals and succeed in higher education.
