Founded in 1953, Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU) is a prominent institution in Zhejiang Province, jointly supported by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Ministry of Education. With two campuses, ZCMU serves over 24,000 full-time students, including more than 5,600 postgraduate students and over 1,200 international students.
ZCMU’s academic structure includes 22 teaching institutions offering 34 undergraduate programs, 11 of which are recognized as national first-class construction programs. Its Pharmacology and Toxicology, Clinical Medicine, Biology and Biochemistry, and Agricultural Sciences are ranked in the top 0.16%, 0.24%, 0.6% and 1% globally, respectively, according to the Essential Science Indicators (ESI). It is ranked 601-700 in the 2024 Shanghai Ranking’s Academic Ranking of World Universities, with its Pharmacy discipline ranked 115.
Internationally, ZCMU collaborates with over 170 institutions in more than 50 countries and regions. It operates 4 overseas TCM centers, and 11 overseas education centers. With more than 15,000 international graduates, ZCMU continues to lead in advancing global traditional Chinese medicine education and research.
