Prior to laser refractive surgery, screening and preoperative examinations must be performed. In some instances, these two examinations may be done on the same day.
A Screening Consultation is performed to determine a patient’s eligibility for laser vision correction. This examination is done free of charge by the ophthalmologists and optometrists who utilize the LRC. Prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses will not be released following a screening examination.
A $500 non-refundable deposit is collected by the surgeon’s office the day of the Preoperative Examination. This deposit is credited toward the surgical cost listed above, but is not refunded if a patient does not undergo surgery.
The doctors require payment in full at the time services are rendered. They accept cash, check or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express).
Patients with Health Savings Accounts may choose to pay for services by this means for the tax advantage they provide. Check with your plan’s benefits counselor to determine if this option is available to you.
The prices listed above include one full year of follow up care and one enhancement, if needed. Active UCLA faculty, staff, and students are eligible to receive a 10% Bruin discount. A current and valid Bruin or UCLA employee ID will be required at the time of surgery scheduling to receive the discount.
Discounted services are available to those who are interested in surgery by a UCLA ophthalmologist trainee.
NOTE: All prices are subject to change without notice.
