Donate Biological Samples To The Tissue Bank

The UCLA Rare Epilepsies & Brain Disease Tissue Bank collects live and archival tissue samples from planned epilepsy neurosurgery cases, along with a blood sample and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) where available.

The tissue that is collected is the excess material from the area of planned resection that may otherwise be discarded per institutional guidelines.

Live tissue is preserved in a refrigerated aseptic buffered nutrient medium Hibernate®-A (Life Technologies), which maintains viability for transport.

In most cases, domestic transfers arrive to the tissue bank within 24 hours and international transfers arrive to the tissue bank in 24-48 hours.
