Community Medicine Fellowship

One year community medicine/faculty development fellowship with PGY4 salary and benefits.

The Department of Family Medicine has a deep commitment to providing high quality care to under-resourced communities through our unique partnership with the Los Angeles County Health Agency, Venice Family Clinic, and the Student Run Homeless Clinics. As a department, we seek progress in justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, and we pledge to continue our path towards health equity for all, which is part of our social contract and mission as a department of family medicine. 

Fellowships Highlights

  • Care for underserved patients in safety-net settings
  • Teach UCLA family medicine residents, UCLA medical students, and pre-health students
  • Design, implement and evaluate a community health program or needs assessment

Clinical Highlights

  • Four half-days a week caring for continuity family practice patients (including street medicine or unhoused persons).
  • Optional inpatient attending teaching (with faculty mentor). 

Teaching Highlights

  • One half-day a week supervising resident physicians in a family practice.
  • Participate in fellowship seminars one to two hours a week.
  • Work with medical students in the clinic and community settings
  • Optional auditing of courses
  • Faculty development training 

Research and Scholarship Highlights

  • Faculty mentor and mentorship committee
  • Participate in seminars covering foundational program evaluation and research skills, grant writing and project management
  • Design and implement a mentored scholarly community project
  • Present community-based/partnered research project at annual research day

Goeff Gusoff

 

 

 

 

 

Geoff Gusoff, MD, MBA, MTS

Dr. Gussoff completed his MD/MBA at the Perelman School of Medicine and the The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed Family Medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Geoff Gusoff is a family physician whose work focuses on social and structural determinants of health, particularly assessing how the ownership and control of basic resources in communities impacts health. His research explores the health impact of community ownership strategies such as worker-owned businesses and community land trusts. Dr. Gussof is a National Clinician Scholar and Community Medicine Fellow in the Department of Family Medicine.
