Lin Chang, MD

Under the guidance of the core’s director, Lin Chang, MD, this core will effectively accomplish the elements of integration and unification of interdisciplinary research efforts performed by investigators from different specialties, departments and campuses, and communication deemed a necessary element of this center. The PI has a strong track record of managing a large interdisciplinary, translational research group, has been successful in attracting junior investigators to the center, and has successfully mentored several of them to obtain independent research support. She is familiar with both NIH and private sector funding and will be instrumental in supporting PIs to navigate grant awards and study protocols.

Services of the Clinical Studies Core

  1. Research project development for grant proposals
  2. Clinical study coordinator support to PIs. Specific functions could include recruiting, screening, consenting, and enrolling study participants. coordinating and completing clinical and neuroimaging visits and assistance with IRB submissions.
  3. Clinical resource support will provide centralized, coordinated support, management, and oversight for preparation and completion of human studies as needed
  4. Clinical and biological sample collection from human study participants.


The Clinical Studies Core of the Goodman-Luskin Microbiome Center will be located within the G. Oppenheimer Center for the Neurobiology of Stress and Resilience (CNSR). The personnel and staff of this core have their offices in the same location, in a 6,000 square foot space on the UCLA campus. There is also administrative support from the CNSR, the Department of Medicine and the Vatche & Tamar Manoukian Division of Digestive Diseases at UCLA.
