Leveraging Institutional Support for Talented, Underrepresented Physicians and/or Scientists

Purpose

Welcome to UCLA LIFT-UP! As one of only four centers in the country funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, our mission is to advance the career development of scientists from diverse backgrounds who are conducting research in the areas of nutrition, obesity, diabetes, and related fields.

Our goal is to promote a steady and diverse pool of talented new investigators in these fields by offering exceptional research training and mentoring opportunities to highly skilled early-career underrepresented scientists.

To achieve our goal, we aggressively identify and recruit the most talented underrepresented candidates in Southern California and embed them in the strongest, most comprehensive faculty development program possible. Our program provides access to cutting-edge research facilities and resources, as well as a network of experienced mentors who are dedicated to helping our students achieve success.

We are proud to offer a program that fosters exceptional research training and provides underrepresented scientists with the support and resources they need to succeed. We invite you to explore our website and learn more about UCLA LIFT-UP, our leaders, scholars, and the opportunities we offer to highly skilled early-career underrepresented scientists.
