Career & Mentorship
Our program focuses on holistic, individualized mentorship and early career preparation. At the start of training, you will be paired with an APD mentor who will meet with you frequently to track your progress in residency. Your APD ensures you are meeting milestones, connects you with other faculty mentors for research or scholarship, and helps you plan for next steps, whether fellowship or a job. We also pair you with a faculty mentor in your field of interest upon entering the program and have fellowship counselors in each subspecialty who are ready to help you with next steps. We also believe in the strength of peer mentorship and pair you with an R2 and R3 buddy, in addition to a chief buddy, upon entering the program.
Certificate Programs
We offer two additional certificates in hospital medicine and point-of-care ultrasound training for those who wish to gain additional expertise in these fields.
Didactics
We have a strong tradition of innovative teaching conferences that occur at each site, ranging from small group interactive morning report to noon conference lectures to hands-on point-of-care ultrasound sessions.
Mentorship
We take a holistic approach to mentorship, which evolves with your growth as a resident. From the first day of intern year you will have intentional pairings with a variety of faculty and residents to help guide your clinical, academic and career development.
Pathways
We offer five pathways within our program to individualize the resident experience and gain exposure to fields within internal medicine: Medical Education, Health Systems & Management, Global Health, Health Equity & Advocacy and Research. Each pathway provides mentorship by a core group of faculty and the opportunity to participate in scholarship.
Quality Improvement
Quality improvement in healthcare is a quintessential element of outstanding care, and a great way to hold ourselves accountable that we never stagnate and constantly look for avenues of improvement.
