We proudly announce the appointment of Jonathan Goldin, MD, PhD, as Chair of the Department of Radiological Sciences in the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) and Executive Medical Director of Radiology at the UCLA Health system. Dr. Goldin assumes these roles as Dr. Dieter Enzmann steps down after more than two decades in that capacity.

Dr. Goldin has held numerous leadership roles, including founding member of the Medical Executive Committee at the new Martin Luther King Hospital. He played a pivotal role in establishing the department’s program at Santa Monica Hospital and expanding the community imaging outpatient practice network.

His research specializes in advanced imaging and AI techniques for diagnosing and managing lung diseases and oncology through quantitative biomarker development and validation. He has served as a principal investigator or investigator on over 45 NIH grants, resulting in over 270 publications, 13 book chapters, and four patents. He has also served on numerous NIH review and study oversight committees.

As an educator and mentor, Dr. Goldin is committed to training the next generation of scientists, radiologists, and medical professionals at UCLA, having served on 15 postgraduate training committees for PhD and MD students. His dedication to inclusive excellence has led to the implementation of various novel clinical and educational programs at MLKCH. Additionally, he is a board member of the nonprofit organization Children of South Africa (CHOSA).

In announcing this transition, we want to recognize Dr. Enzmann's many years of exceptional leadership as department chair as well as over his entire academic career, all of it characterized by highly distinguished contributions to the research, teaching, and clinical missions of both the Health System and the School. We would also like to thank the search committee members, whose names are listed below, for their dedication and commitment to the search process.
