Breast Surgery Program
Our breast surgeons are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions affecting the breast. Our expert team plays a key role in the management of women and men diagnosed with breast cancer. We also treat benign breast conditions, such as fibroadenomas and other lesions of the breast, and we counsel and monitor those at high risk for the development of breast cancer.
We utilize advanced surgical techniques to offer patients the most appropriate surgical treatment options, including oncoplastic breast surgery, skin and nipple sparing mastectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, aesthetic flat closure, and other procedures. We partner with our plastic and reconstructive surgery colleagues when reconstructive procedures are indicated to ensure that patients have the best cosmetic result.
In addition to our commitment to clinical excellence, the UCLA Health Section of Breast Surgery is committed to advancing the field of breast cancer medicine through participation in clinical trials in partnership with our UCLA Health Medical Oncology colleagues, and through performance of independent studies.
At UCLA Health we believe that multidisciplinary care results in the best outcomes, and our breast cancer treatment team includes our expert colleagues in breast imaging/radiology, medical and radiation oncology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, pathology, cancer genetics, physical therapy, and Simms/Mann Integrative Oncology. Representatives from all specialties participate in our multidisciplinary conferences. In Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, dedicated multidisciplinary clinics allow patients to be seen by all specialists at one visit.
