Kalyanam Shivkumar, MD, PhD
Director
Dr. Shivkumar received his medical degree from the University of Madras, India, and his Ph.D from UCLA. He completed his cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology fellowship training at UCLA. Dr. Shivkumar is the director of the UCLA Cardiac Arrhythmia Center at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. His field of specialization is interventional cardiac electrophysiology, and he heads a group at UCLA that is involved in developing innovative techniques for catheter ablation and implanted devices.
Dr. Boyle received his medical degree and Ph.D from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland. He completed his cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology fellowship training at Beth Israel Medical Center, Harvard University Boston. Dr. Boyle is the Director of the Fellowship Program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. His field of specialization is cardiac devices, ablations, and laser lead extractions.
Dr. Ajijola received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medical residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed his general cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowships at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Ajijola field of expertise is clinical and interventional electrophysiology.
Dr. Bender received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School. He completed internal medicine residency at University of California, San Diego, cardiology fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University, and electrophsiology training at the UCLA Cardiac Arrhythmia Center. His field of specialization is cardiac electrophysiology, with emphasis on lead management and catheter ablation of atrial arrhythmias.
Dr. Bradfield received his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed his medical residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He completed his cardiology fellowship at the UCLA/VA Greater Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley and his cardiac electrophysiology fellowship training at UCLA. Dr. Bradfield is the Director of cardiac EP at UCLA-Olive View.
Dr. Buch received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. He completed his cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology fellowship training at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. His field of specialization is cardiac electrophysiology, with emphasis on atrial fibrillation.
Dr. Do received his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He completed residency in Internal Medicine at Stanford University, Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship training at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He also completed the UCLA Specialty Training and Advanced Research (STAR) program. Dr. Do's clinical interests include all aspects of arrhythmia management including cardiac catheter ablation of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, and cardiac implantable devices with an emphasis on conduction system pacing.
Dr. Khakpour received his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his internal medicine residency, general cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology fellowship training at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. His field of specialization is cardiac electrophysiology. His clinical interests include cardiac catheter ablation of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias.
Dr. Macias earned his medical degree and completed his residency training in internal medicine at the University of New Mexico Medical Center. Dr. Macias completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of New Mexico Medical Center. He completed his fellowship training in cardiac electrophysiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. His clinical interests include ablation, arrhythmia management, atrial fibrillation, and implantable cardiac devices.
Dr. Vaseghi received her medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. She completed her cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology fellowship training at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She also completed the UCLA Specialty Training and Advanced Research (STAR) program. Dr. Vaseghi specializes in cardiac electrophysiology, with an emphasis on ventricular tachycardia and cardiac sympathetic denervation. Dr. Vaseghi is the Director of Clinical and Translational Research for the Cardiac Arrhythmia Center.
Jean Gima, R.N., M.N., FNP-BC
Jean Gima received her B.S.N. degree from Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles and her Master's Degree in Nursing from the UCLA School of Nursing. She has staff nursing experience which includes work in the cardiothoracic surgical intensive care unit as well as non-invasive cardiology. Prior to joining the Cardiac Arrhythmia Center staff, her nurse practitioner experience included work in family health. She has also served as faculty in various baccalaureate and master's nursing programs.
Geraldine Pavez, R.N. MSN, ACNP-BC
Geraldine received her B.S.N. degree and Master's degree from the UCLA School of Nursing. She has previous nursing experience in the cardiac observation unit and in case management. Prior to joining the Cardiac Arrhythmia Center, she worked as a cardiology nurse practitioner. Her current area of expertise is cardiac electrophysiology. Geraldine is fluent in two languages, English and Spanish.
Julie Marie Sorg, R.N., MSN
Julie Marie Sorg received her B.S.N. degree from The Ohio State University and her Master's Degree in Nursing Administration from the UCLA School of Nursing. Prior to joining the Cardiac Arrhythmia Center, her clinical and research experience include work in the UCLA Cardiothoracic Unit and the Ahmanson UCLA Cardiomyopathy Center. She has project management experience including the Co-Director of the UCLA Magnet Recognition Program and an Application Manager for UCLA's electronic health record overseeing research. She is currently the Director of Research Administration for the Cardiac Arrhythmia Center.
