The Seet lab in the Division of Hematology-Oncology, Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is seeking Postdoctoral candidates to engage in independent, mentored research in T cell immunobiology and cell therapy for cancer. The lab is broadly investigating ways in which to improve the efficacy of T cell therapies by understanding and harnessing the potential of T cells generated from pluripotent stem cells.
Professional responsibilities include experimental design and execution, data analysis, team and conference presentations, literature reviews, and manuscript writing. A PhD is required, or must be a PhD candidate with a graduation date of June, 2022 or earlier. Candidate requirements are experience in flow cytometry and analysis, molecular cloning, and cell culture. Candidates are expected to have excellent organization and communication skills, be open to collaboration and teaching within the lab, and have enthusiasm for the subject and a well-developed goal of developing a scientific career in cancer immunotherapy research.

The Koki Morizono lab in the Division of Hematology-Oncology, Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is seeking Postdoctoral candidates to research receptors and tropisms of enveloped viruses. The focus of the laboratory is developing targeting lentiviral vectors that can specifically transduce desired cell and tissue types. The lab also investigates the interactions between enveloped viruses and their receptors. The Division of Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is seeking applicants for a Project Scientist position at the Assistant, Associate, or full rank. This individual will work with Drs. Martina McDermott and Neil O'Brien, Adjunct Faculty in the Dennis J. Slamon TORL (Translational Oncology Research Laboratory) to help identify and validate novel therapeutic targets for pharmacological intervention using small molecule therapeutics. This position will be an addition to our existing team and allow us to more rapidly screen targets and identify projects for clinical development.
The primary duties/responsibilities of this position will include searching publicly available databases and literature for novel targets for small molecule therapeutics in cancer. Candidate will develop a research plan for the validation of these novel targets in vitro and in vivo. Specifically, this will involve using molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA/Protein isolation, RT-PCR, Western blotting, IHC, gene cloning, CRISPR and siRNA transfection to characterize role of the target gene/protein in cancer signaling. Candidate will prepare data presentations for weekly meetings with senior members of the drug discovery team. Candidate will also be expected to contribute to the management of a busy lab, including training of students and volunteer researchers and contribute to the preparation of research grants and publications.
