Leadership

Victor W. Nitti, MD

Victor W. Nitti, MD, Co-Director

Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Urology, Chief of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) and Fellowship Director for the FPMRS ACGME accredited program. He completed his medical degree at the University of Rochester and Rutgers New Jersey Medical, completed his urology residency at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, NY and then completed a fellowship in female urology, neurourology and reconstructive urology at UCLA. Prior to coming to UCLA, Dr. Nitti was Professor of Urology and Obstetrics and Gynecology and Vice Chairman of Urology at New York University Langone Medical Center where he was also the FPMRS fellowship director. He is an authority in urodynamic techniques, medical and surgical therapies for urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, female pelvic reconstructive surgery and voiding dysfunction. More >

 

Christopher M. Tarnay, MD

Christopher M. Tarnay, MD, Co-Director

Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Urology and Chief of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Tarnay completed his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology residency at UCLA School of Medicine and Fellowship in Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at Harbor - UCLA Medical Center. He is an authority in medical and surgical therapies for urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and robotic surgery. He has recently authored a textbook on female pelvic reconstructive surgical techniques. Dr. Tarnay is skilled in fistula care and over the last decade has lead efforts to reduce the suffering of women and mothers from fistula in the developing world through a sustainable program of service and education. More >

A. Lenore Ackerman, MD, PhD

A. Lenore Ackerman, MD, PhD

Assistant Professor of Urology and Director of Research, Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Ackerman earned her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry and a Ph.D. in Immunology at Yale University. After realizing a desire to pursue translational medicine, she joined the Medical Scientist Training Program at Yale, receiving an M.D. degree. Dr. Ackerman completed her residency in Urology and fellowship in Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA. Her current research focuses on the role of host-microbe interactions in the etiology of benign lower urinary tract disorders. Dr. Ackerman specializes in the treatment of men and women with incontinence, voiding dysfunction and pelvic floor disorders, with a particular interest in geriatric urology. More >

 

Zachery Chad Baxter, MD

Zachery Chad Baxter, MD

Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology. Dr. Baxter completed his MD at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, urology residency at Penn State University, and fellowship training in Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA. Previously the Director of Pelvic Health and Reconstructive Surgery at North Shore – Long Island Jewish Health System in New York, Dr. Baxter's clinical interests are in male and female voiding dysfunction, urinary incontinence, general adult urology, and genitourinary and pelvic floor reconstruction. Dr. Baxter also holds a sub-specialty board certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. More >

Ja-Hong Kim, MD

Professor, Division of Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Urology. Dr. Kim completed her MD at Baylor College of Medicine, Urology residency training at Cleveland Clinic, and Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at UCLA. Her clinical areas of interest include voiding dysfunction, vaginal prolapse, and genitourinary reconstruction.
