Since 1995, the Iris Cantor – UCLA Women’s Health Education & Research Center has been nationally recognized as a leader in research, community engagement, and advocacy for women’s health. Through a social justice perspective, the Center addresses women’s health beyond a genetics and gender lens. The Center takes a holistic view of the social and economic influences on health which contribute to health inequities.

Through cross-sector collaborations, WHERC addresses the physical, mental, economic, cultural, psychological, racial, and environmental disparities that impact the wellbeing of vulnerable women, their families, and the community at large.

WHERC's has a strong focus on prevention through outreach to underserved girls and women. Our wide-ranging outreach program combines projects that educate and empower, while fostering partnerships with well established community health organizations.
