Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LBTQ+) Health Program at UCLA Health
The UCLA Health Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LBTQ+) Health Initiative aims to address the unique health care needs of sexual and gender-diverse individuals through multidisciplinary clinical care, community engagement, medical education, and ongoing quality-improvement projects. The program accepts patients on a self-referral basis and aims to be inclusive of individuals who are female-identifying and/or assigned female at birth (AFAB) and identify as lesbian, bisexual, queer, and/or transgender, or otherwise feel the program would be a good fit to address their unique healthcare needs.
The UCLA LGBTQ+ Health initiative ensures that all patients have access to compassionate, inclusive, and equitable health care and partners the Iris Cantor - UCLA Women's Health Center and the Los Angeles County Sexual and Gender Diverse Women's Health Collaborative (SGDWHC). Since 2009, the SGDWHC addresses reducing lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer women’s health inequities by training allies and supporters in delivering inclusive and welcoming care that promotes disclosure and builds trust between providers and patients.
The program seeks to address LBTQ+ healthcare disparities and to serve as a national leader in collecting new data to inform future programs and initiatives.
