About Our Unit

The 26-bed Neurology and Neurosurgery Unit (6 North) provides comprehensive care to individuals with neurological symptoms associated with stroke, neurological diseases, and postneurosurgical intervention.

Our unit is specialized to meet the unique needs of our patients. We are able to provide for those who require:

  • Neurological Observation: Comprehensive and frequent neurological monitoring managed by our trained team of knowledgeable physicians and nurses.
  • Cardiac Observation: Continuous cardiac assessment, monitoring, and treatment delivered by our highly skilled nursing staff.

About Your Care

Our multidisciplinary team of physicians, registered nurses, clinical social workers, discharge planners, case managers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists strive for optimal patient outcomes with the help of cutting-edge medical science, nursing, and technology.

Our goal is to provide patient and family focused care. The Neuroscience and Stroke multidisciplinary team stabilizes the patients medically and guides them on the path toward functional independence and self-sufficiency. We personalize care, in order to meet the specific needs of the patient and family, and we tailor our approach with cultural sensitivity and understanding. The team also focuses on assisting the patient and family to cope with the residual effects of neurological illness or surgery.

The Surgical Observation Unit is a specialized area designed to meet the needs of patients who physicians determine should stay for a short time in post-surgical care.

Useful Information to Know During Your Stay

Our unit offers an intensive environment with 24-hour service that includes frequent assessments, diagnostic testing, and blood work that can be done throughout the day and night in order to ensure our patient's physiological well-being. We encourage your loved ones to support you during your hospitalization. We aim to provide you and your family a stay that is comfortable and pleasant. On occasion, you may experience a delay of tests or rocedures due to the complexity of our patients' cases. We will make every effort to facilitate timely service.

Our Nursing Management team includes experienced and dedicated practitioners who are available to assist you and your family if you have questions and concerns during and after your hospital stay.
