Bio
Dr. Olga Timofeeva is a clinical immunogeneticist who joined the UCLA faculty in 2024 as a Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Associate Director of the UCLA Immunogenetics Center. In this role, she provides clinical and academic leadership for the center’s diagnostic, research, and training programs, and leads the “Technical Innovations and Advancements” initiative.

Dr. Timofeeva earned her PhD in Biochemistry in 2000, supported by a prestigious Government Scholarship from the Research Council of Norway. She completed her postdoctoral training at the National Cancer Institute, NIH, where she received an Award for Research Excellence. In 2009, she was appointed an Assistant Professor of Oncology at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, Georgetown University School of Medicine.

Following her clinical fellowship at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, Dr. Timofeeva joined the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University as an Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. There, she served as Director of the Molecular Pathology Laboratory and Co-Director of the Immunogenetics Laboratory. In 2019, she returned to Georgetown University as a Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Co-Director of the Histocompatibility Laboratory at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

Dr. Timofeeva has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. She is a frequent invited speaker at national and international scientific conferences, universities, and research institutions. Her research focuses on the mechanisms of antibody-mediated rejection and the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for transplant rejection.

She actively contributes to the field through service on several professional committees, including the ASHI Director-in-Training Review and Credentialing Committee, the ASHI Educational Workshop Committee, and as Senior Co-Chair of the ASHI Quality and Standards Committee. She also serves as the Immediate Past Program Director for the ASHI Proficiency Testing Program.

Dr. Timofeeva is deeply committed to clinical service, education, research, and regulatory innovation in histocompatibility and immunogenetics.
