The Laser Refractive Center (LRC) at UCLA’s Stein Eye Institute offers superior vision correction in a patient friendly environment. Access to established and pioneering technologies for a wide range of refractive conditions enables faculty and community doctors to optimize results by addressing each patient's unique refractive needs. Since its opening in 1995, the LRC has treated thousands of patients.
The Center is at the forefront of discoveries in refractive surgery. It was one of a limited number of investigational study sites in the United States to participate in the Food and Drug Administration clinical trial of excimer laser technology, which led to its approval and wide spread adoption. It was the first site in Los Angeles to use an FDA-approved laser to correct Myopia and Astigmatism.
Today, patients treated at the LRC benefit from advanced techniques such as wavefront-optimized PRK and LASIK, SMILE, and PCRI/AK. Expanded FDA approvals allow Our Doctors to treat a wide range of refractive errors including Myopia (nearsightedness), Hyperopia (farsightedness), Presbyopia (aging eyes), and Astigmatism.
