The Inaugural Cardiovascular Theme Symposium was held on September 2, 2016 in the new Luskin Conference Center on the UCLA campus. This Symposium was the first scientific conference sponsored by the UCLA Cardiovascular Theme. The second Symposium, held at the De Neve Plaza and Auditorium, was held September 25th and 26th, 2017.

The symposia programs included lectures from nine world leaders in the field of cardiovascular research and medicine. They were attended by ~375 scientists, clinicians and trainees. Over 90 abstracts were presented.

In 2016, there were seven awardees in the categories of graduate students and clinical/research fellows, and eleven in 2017.

This workshop is designed to teach practitioners how point of care ultrasound can facilitate acute care management, both for adults and pediatrics. The workshop is lead by national experts on point of care ultrasound and the target audience includes all acute care providers, i.e., Anesthesiologists, Pediatricians, Internists, Hospitalists, Surgeons, and Intensivists. 

Attendees will receive up to 17 AMA PRA Category 1 credits and over 6 hours of hands-on live model training with the latest ultrasound machines and simulators. 

Additional small group sessions include Rescue Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE), Pediatrics and Pathology Simulation Training.
