The UCLA Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine invites applications for fellowship positions in the advanced practice of thoracic anesthesiology. The primary goal of the one-year fellowship is to prepare participants for the perioperative care of high acuity thoracic surgery patients. The UCLA Thoracic Surgery Program cares for adults and children undergoing complex oncological and non-oncological chest surgery. These include (but not limited to): lung resection, esophageal surgery, mediastinal mass resection, chest wall resection/reconstruction, pleurectomy/decortication, stellate sympathectomy for cardiac rhythm disturbances, and lung transplantation. Our program specializes in minimally invasive and Robotic-Assisted surgery. Important secondary goals of the fellowship include training in basic perioperative transesophageal echocardiography (leading to basic PTE certification) and research in the domains of Thoracic Anesthesiology. The fellowship also includes advanced training in ICU medicine and anesthesia for Cardiac Surgery. We are currently recruiting fellowship candidates for the next academic year.
