Residency

Welcome

The UCLA Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides excellent training for residents through a mixture of clinical experience, didactic material, research and investigative pursuits. It prides itself on its intellectual rigor combined with developing and honing clinical skills.

Graduates of our program have found fulfilling careers in clinical practice, academic medicine and research. The Department is composed not only of a superior faculty with well deserved national reputations, but is the focal point for academic Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Southern California region.

The faculty at UCLA is committed to the highest standards of education in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Our goal is to graduate residents who excel in all aspects of this specialty. We focus on providing a thorough education that provides the training of a well rounded obstetrician-gynecologist -- one who excels in the medical and surgical aspects of our specialty. We emphasize bedside as well as didactic teaching. We stress the care of the whole patient in the context of her problem. We encourage the development of the techniques that enhances communication between the patient and her physician and provides optimum medical care. Our goal is to permit the full development of each resident's potential so that they may determine the best course for their future.

As medicine undergoes revolutionary changes in the United States, UCLA is in the forefront and will continue to be a leader in the field. The combination of excellent clinicians within a growing medical center and their commitment to excellence makes UCLA a unique and desirable Obstetrics and Gynecology residency.
