The UCLA Center for East-West Medicine Visiting Scholar Training Program is designed to equip visiting scholars with a global perspective of integrative medicine in the United States and at UCLA in order to facilitate greater collaboration between international academic institutions.

Monika Rybicka

Monika Rybicka is medical doctor, internal medicine specialist and PhD student at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. Dr. Rybicka has been a mentee of Professor Ka-Kit Hui since 2014 when she came to the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine as a graduating medical student. She has almost ten years of clinical experience in Geriatrics and Internal Medicine, as well as in the primary care setting and nursing home.

Dr. Rybicka has completed many internships abroad, including in the US, Germany, Russia, Austria and Sweden. Her PhD thesis compares medical acupuncture to NADA protocol ear acupuncture in older adults with low back pain. In 2018, Dr. Rybicka organised a conference on integrative health at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. This was the first university-level conference on integrative health in the country. She plans to bring what she has learned from the Center’s East-West integrative health model back to Poland.
