The Interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Neurogenomics

Neurogenomics is a common field of graduate study. Many graduate students across various departmental & interdepartmental graduate programs study genetic aspects of the brain, its neurodevelopment, and/or neurological disease (e.g., Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, Human Genetics, and many others).

Neurogenomics is a broad career field. Developing skills and experience across topic areas such as neuroscience, genetics, and bioinformatics will contribute to preparing graduate students for opportunities available in overlapping disciplines.

The Goal of this Certificate program is to bring graduate students together to:

  • provide a shared community for students with mutual interest in Neurogenomics
  • provide opportunities to receive recognition for their accomplishments in the field
  • provide opportunities for education, discussion, & engagement with expert faculty

Eligibility

Students must be in good standing in a UCLA graduate program.

Students must complete a total of 16 units of coursework from a combination of courses in Neurology/Neuroscience, Genetics/Genomics, and Bioinformatics/Computational/Data Analysis.  A wide variety of courses are available and most apply to existing degree requirements.

Completion Requirements

Successful completion of approved coursework.

Annual research presentations consisting of a poster presentation and brief oral presentation.
