HumAnes of UCLA: Kristina Bella

Kristina Bella
  1. What is your role in our department, and what does a typical day look like for you?

I’m a Financial Services Analyst in the Business Office. A typical day includes managing procurement and accounts payable and receivable, processing reimbursements, ensuring compliance with university policies, and serving as a liaison between UCLA departments and vendors.

  2. What is one part of your job that you find especially meaningful or energizing?

I enjoy supporting my colleagues by helping streamline the procurement and reimbursement process and answering any questions they might have. Each day presents a new set of tasks, and I enjoy checking each item off my list.

  3. How did your career path lead you to this role?

I started my career at UCLA in 2018 in a different department, where I had the opportunity to train with the purchasing coordinator at the time. Her meticulous approach to each request sparked my interest in UCLA’s systems and the detailed processes required to complete each task. In 2022, I joined the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine Business Office, where I was immediately able to apply the knowledge and experience that I had gained. Being a resource for my teammates and colleagues now feels incredibly rewarding.

  4. If you could go on a trip anywhere, where would you go and why?

I would travel back to Japan for the delicious food, culture, and shopping.

  5. Is there a hobby, interest, or fun fact about you that colleagues might be surprised to learn?

I love to bake, especially cookies! If I'm not working, I'm either looking up new recipes, trying new ones, or recreating my tried-and-true favorites. If I'm traveling, I'm looking for the best cookies in town!

  6. What’s one thing you’re looking forward to in 2026—professionally or personally?

In 2026, I'm looking forward to spending time with family and friends.
