The Fire/Life Safety Program is responsible for providing fire and life safety services to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA, UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, as well as licensed off-site clinics and office buildings associated with the Health System.  Our goal is to implement preventative measures, along with education and training to ensure the safety of staff, patients and visitors.

Our program services include:

  • Interpreting and applying fire and life safety codes, laws and regulations
  • Assisting in maintaining hospital accreditation
  • Overseeing safety related to construction and renovations
  • Assisting in maintaining Life Safety Plans
  • Fire and life safety inspections of existing facilities
  • Fire drills and fire extinguisher training
  • Oxygen enriched environment training
  • Laser safety training
  • Fire protection systems testing and maintenance
  • Fire extinguisher inspections
  • New and refresher fire and life safety training
  • Fire investigation/emergency incident follow up
  • Liaison with the local Fire Departments and other regulatory agencies
